1st OPERA Scientific Expert meeting on Risk Indicators
Scientific Experts met first time for discussing their views on risk indicators and their implementation to comply with the Directive on Sustainable Use of Pesticides.
The objective of the workshop was to give indication to help Member States' implementation in their National Action Plans of the Chapter V article 15 of the Directive on Sustainable Use of Pesticides.

7 Projects to Make Progress on Ethics and Global Food Security in 5 Years

The Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics, along with the Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, launched the Global Food Ethics Project to take on the challenge of working through conflicting visions of what it means to feed the world ethically and find a concrete path forward even in the absence of consensus about ethical commitments and values.

The main product of the first phase of the Global Food Ethics project is the 7 by 5 Agenda for Ethics and Global Food Security.
We are happy to share with you the efforts of a collaborative meeting Prof Capri took part in last year. Our international working group was given the task to establish a near term research and policy agenda for global food ethics that that would make a significant, practical contribution to global food security.

The report includes seven global food ethics projects we deemed particularly worthy of investment because of their importance and tractability

Bee Health in Europe - An overview
Our “Bee health in Europe – Facts & Figures” compendium gave the most up-to-date information on the topic when it was published in August, 2011. Now, just more than a year later, we’re in a position to start compiling new information on bee health. In this overview, we highlight the still-valid main points of the earlier document while at the same time giving in the foreword a preview of new data that we will present in detail in our next full review, scheduled for publication in 2013.
