SCIENCE SUPPORTING POLICY FOR THE SAFETY OF EUROPEAN SEAFOOD
The EU FP7-funded ECsafeSEAFOOD project is holding its policy workshop in Brussels, Belgium on Thursday 21 January 2016. ECsafeSEAFOOD aims to assess safety issues mainly related to non-regulated contaminants present in seafood as a result of environmental contamination and evaluate their impact on public health.

Bee Health in Europe

The “Bee Health in Europe” conference, the second event out of the series of eight organised by OPERA Research Centre took place in Warsaw on 19th February 2013. The partner of the event in Poland was the Apiculture Division of University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, a leading science unit regarding apiculture. The key scientists specialising in apiculture and bee health took part in the conference. The event was hosted by TV journalist, Malgorzata Mocheta-Pastuszko, TVP1, Agrobiznes show.

Bee Health in Europe

The first event of the road show “Bee Health in Europe” organized by OPERA Research Centre has taken place on January 23rd 2013 in Berlin. In Germany, the event was organized in partnership with the Julius Kühn-Institute (JKI), the Federal Research Centre for Cultivated Plants. Renowned speakers and participants gathered to share their point of view on bee health.  The event was hosted by Silke Beckendorf, chief editor of Deutsches Bienen-Journal who also led the round table and the discussion.

Workshop on the Directive for the Sustainable Use of Pesticides in Spain

OPERA Research Centre and the Industry Association for Plant Protection of Spain (AEPLA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment of Spain co-organized in Madrid the workshop entitled “Workshop on the Directive for the Sustainable Use of Pesticides in Spain”. This stakeholder workshop gathered up to 70 representatives from National Authorities, different associations, the private sector and NGOs.

6th Roundtable Stakeholders on CAP Reform
OPERA organized its 6th Roundtable on the CAP reform under the umbrella of the Forum for the Future of Agriculture 2012, one of the most important early conferences in agriculture taking place in Brussels. The roundtable was focused on research priorities and respectively on policy framework for innovation for agriculture in the EU, in the context of CAP and next programming framework for research.

On the 14th and 15th of December at the OPERA Research Center offices was organized the second BROWSE Stakeholders Meeting. The two days workshop was dedicated to training and awareness raising materials and to risk indicators.

CEUREG Forum XV
Bratislava, Slovak Republic 6th-7th October 2011 The fifteenth CEUREG Forum was organized this year in Bratislava. The forum gathered representatives from the regulatory authorities of Central and Eastern European countries, the private sector as well as a representative of the European Commission, European Crop Protection Association and OPERA Research Center. The forum consisted of four sessions where different topics of high interest on the field of agriculture were discussed.

Suggestions for the implementation of the oncoming Directive for the Sustainable Use Directive of pesticides- the experience of LIFE+ EcoPest project
On the 26th of May in Athens, Benaki Phytopathological Institute (BPI) and OPERA Research Center co-organized the workshop entitled "Towards the Implementation of the Directive on the Sustainable Use of Pesticides”. This stakeholder workshop gathered representatives from the Greek Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, different associations and the private sector and the academic sectorup to a number of 70 participants.
