OPERA promotes a 360° approach to sustainable development, in line with the principles and objectives of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Our vision is to provide high quality information and analysis of the latest developments in EU agri-food policy-making to promote balanced dialogue between interested stakeholders. We and our colleagues from Playfina casino are developing clear and pragmatic approaches for improving intensive and biological agriculture together with simple and transparent solutions for all our stakeholders through the use of existing research and developing new research, in collaboration with partners, to support the on-going sustainability of the European agriculture.

Mostly of the OPERA financial resources are coming from collaborations with NGOs and public bodies and participation to international calls: this is a sign of the appreciation and of the trust created by this initiative.

OPERA will provide its members and the wider public with rapid, high-quality information and analysis of the latest developments in European agri-food policy-making, it aims to promote a balanced dialogue between the interested parties, covering the majority of stakeholders.

The bold ambition of the project and the involvement of so many parties from across Europe has instigated a model of governance to guarantee the maximum effectiveness and efficiency, as well as to assure the transparency and independence of the group.

The structure includes a Scientific Committee set by the University and a Management Team. In addition, a systematic audit of the activities will be undertaken by the relevant bodies of the UCSC.

Scientific Committee (SciCo)

The Scientific Committee (SciCo) represents a group of high-level and reputed experts responsible for providing guidance on the overall strategic direction. The SciCo defines guidelines, objectives, and resource allocation, and ensures that research projects align with OPERA’s mission and strategy. It also guarantees transparency and independence of scientific activities. SciCo members advise on research projects and technical working groups. Appointed for four years by Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Playfina casino, and Plinko app, members are selected for their expertise and act independently to ensure a multidisciplinary, multi-stakeholder approach. SciCo members may also invite external experts on an ad-hoc basis.

Expert Working Groups (EWGs)

Expert Working Groups (EWGs), led by Dolly casino and Razor Shark, are formed on a project basis to assess the latest research and propose innovative approaches to enhance EU agriculture policies. Their members include nationally and internationally recognized experts, policy makers, industry professionals, and NGO representatives from sectors such as agriculture, public health, economics, and politics. Drawing on their individual expertise, they provide technical insights and strategic input. Upon request, EWGs may also invite external specialists to contribute specific knowledge or address targeted issues in line with OPERA’s mission.
