IPB University hosted the kick‑off meeting of the ENHANCE Project, a European–Indonesian partnership aimed at strengthening sustainability‑based higher education. The project brings together seven universities from Europe and Indonesia to transform curricula, develop transdisciplinary research, and build institutional capacity.

Funded by the European Union, ENHANCE will train more than 120 academic and administrative staff and involve at least 450 students in sustainability‑oriented programs. The consortium will also support the creation of sustainability graduate schools and expand national and international research networks.

The initiative responds to major environmental challenges in Indonesia—such as deforestation, peatland degradation, disaster vulnerability, and biodiversity loss—through three pillars: institutional capacity building, educational innovation, and transdisciplinary research.

The project integrates principles of gender equality, inclusivity, digital transformation, and systems thinking to promote resilient and globally competitive models of postgraduate education. Leaders from IPB University and partner institutions emphasized the importance of equal collaboration between European expertise and Indonesia’s rich socio‑ecological context.
