2nd Roundtable of Stakeholders on the Reform of the CAP

| Following the success of the previous event and the specific questions put forward by the agri-foodstakeholders, OPERA Research Centre, through its Brussels office, has the pleasure to announce the organisation of the Second Roundtable of Stakeholders on the Reform of the CAP.
The future reform of Common Agricultural Policy needs to reply to new and reinforced challenges related to a more liberal world trade environment. The old challenges meanwhile are still there: ensure a reasonable income for farmers, respond to market variations, limited budgetary resources, ensure food security, guarantee food safety, support structural development of the rural area and promote competitiveness of the European agriculture. The second edition of the Roundtable will deal with “Transparency of the food chain and market stability in the future CAP ” and the subject will be introduced by Mr. Russell Mildon, former Director of the European Commission responsible for the Economics of agricultural markets. The second Roundtable, out of a series of events on the Reform of the CAP, has the objective to create a platform for the stakeholders at European level to exchange, in an informal environment, opinions and presentation of possible solutions. Each roundtable event will be very much focused on a single topic at the time, out of the numerous challenges for the policy. |
